What this card does

This card is attached to one of your Pokemon as a Tool.

If that Pokemon is Knocked Out, you move up to three basic Energy cards from it to a Benched Pokemon.

The opponent's attack still deals damage, but the energy is saved.

What it does

Wishful Baton

If the Pokémon this card is attached to is your Active Pokémon and is Knocked Out by damage from an opponent’s attack, move up to 3 basic Energy cards from that Pokémon to 1 of your Benched Pokémon.

This card acts like an insurance policy for your main fighter. It ensures that valuable energy resources are not lost when your active Pokemon faints, allowing you to keep playing effectively.

Which deck it belongs in

It suits decks that rely on powerful attacks requiring multiple energy cards. It works best in strategies where losing your active Pokemon is a risk but you want to preserve your setup.

Strengths
  • Saves energy
  • Secret rare status
  • Tool attachment
Watch out for
  • Pokemon still faints
  • Limited to three cards
  • Requires basic energy
Pro tip

Use this when your active Pokemon is about to be knocked out to prevent wasting the energy you spent on it.

Good to know

A baton passed in a relay race symbolises teamwork and passing on strength to the next runner.

Note for the parent

Remind your child that the Pokemon still faints and goes to the discard pile, so this only saves the energy, not the Pokemon itself.
