Keeping kids safe

This site is built for children, so we have designed it to collect as little as possible and to keep your child out of harm's way. Here is exactly how it works, in plain language.

Our promises

No accounts, no login

There is no sign-up and no password. Your child does not create an account, so there is nothing for anyone to break into.

Nothing is collected

We do not ask for or store your child's name, email, age, address, school, photo or location. We collect no personal information at all.

The binder stays on your device

The trainer card and saved cards in My binder are saved only inside the web browser on your device. Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else.

No chat on the website

The website itself has no messaging, friend lists or public profiles. Our community chat is a separate, parents-led Discord that you choose to join. Children take part through a parent, not with their own account.

No tracking ads

We do not run behavioural advertising and we do not load third-party advertising trackers that follow children around the web.

Nicknames, not real names

When your child makes a trainer card, we ask them to use a fun nickname rather than their real name, and we limit what they can type.

How to manage or clear the binder

Because everything is stored in the browser on your device, you are always in control. To remove it all, use the "Clear my binder on this device" button at the bottom of the My binder page, or clear your browser data. Using a different device or browser starts fresh, because nothing is linked to an account.

Designed with the rules in mind

We have built this site to line up with the direction of child privacy and online safety guidance in Australia and New Zealand, including the best-interests-of-the-child principle, data minimisation, age-appropriate design, and most-restrictive defaults. By choosing a design where no personal information leaves your device, we avoid collecting children's data in the first place, which is the safest approach.

  • Australian Privacy Act and the forthcoming Children's Online Privacy Code: data minimisation, best interests of the child, age-appropriate design.
  • Australia's Online Safety Act and the eSafety expectations for services likely to be used by children.
  • New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, which asks for particular care when any information is collected from children.
  • The website itself has no social features, so Australia's under-16 social media rules do not apply to it. Our community chat is a separate, parents-led Discord with its own age rules (Discord's minimum age is 13), which you opt into.

About our Discord community

Our community lives on Discord, a separate chat app run by Discord, not by us. It is a parents-led space: it is framed and moderated for parents and guardians, and because Discord's own minimum age is 13, younger children take part through a parent rather than with their own account. We do not collect data inside Discord, and joining is your choice. If you join, please read and follow the server rules, and supervise younger children as you would on any chat platform.

This page explains our approach in good faith and is not legal advice. Before the site goes public, and before we ever add any feature that would store information, we will have the approach reviewed by a privacy professional.
