What can you win?
The better you do, the bigger the rewards. You can win prize money, free cards, and even help to fly to the World Championships. Here is how it works, in plain words.
💰 Prize money
Big events, called Regionals and Internationals, give out prize money to the top players. The money is in US dollars, which is American money, so a grown-up can work out what that is in Aussie or Kiwi dollars.
If you are under 18 and you win money, you do not get cash in your hand. You get it on a special Pokémon prepaid card, a bit like a gift Visa card. If you win a really big amount (US$5,000 or more), you can choose money to help pay for school (a scholarship) instead.
✈️ Travel awards and stipends
Australia and New Zealand are a long way from a lot of the big events. So Pokémon helps the best players from our region (it is called Oceania) with travel.
If you finish high enough on the Oceania points ladder for your age group, you can earn a travel award, also called a travel stipend. That is money to help pay for flights and a hotel so you can get to an International Championship or the World Championships. Think of it as Pokémon chipping in for your trip because you played so well.
🏆 How you get to Worlds
There are two ways in:
- Collect enough Championship Points over the year to finish near the top of the Oceania ladder for your age group and game.
- Or do really well at one big event for an instant invite. Winning a Regional in your age group gets you straight in. So does finishing in the top four at an International.
A set number of the best Oceania players in each age group earn a Worlds invite. For the video game side in 2026, that is 10 Junior, 10 Senior and 20 Masters spots.
🇸🇬 Worlds 2027 is close to home
The next World Championships is at the Singapore Expo from 13 to 15 August 2027. That is a much shorter flight than America, about eight hours from Sydney, and the clock is only a couple of hours different, so you will not be playing your biggest games while your body thinks it is bedtime.

Plan your path to Worlds
Set a points target and see exactly which events get you there.
Australia runs up to four Regionals a season (recently Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth), plus the Oceania International. Your best five Regionals, Specials and Internationals count, so you can bank points from up to five of them.
Only your best 4 League Cups and best 4 League Challenges count towards your total, so the plan never relies on more than that. Regionals and Internationals share a best-5 limit.
Even at your best finishes, this plan lands 82 CP short. Aim for higher placements, add more Regionals, or enter more local events.

🎁 Everyone wins something
You do not have to win money to come home happy. Just for turning up and playing, you collect Play! Points, and often a free promo card while they last. The best prize of all is the fun, the friends and getting better each time.
