What this card does

This card stays in play and affects the whole game.

Once per turn, each player can choose to discard a hand card.

If they do, they search their deck for a basic Energy card and add it to their hand.

What it does

Viridian Forest

Once during each player’s turn, that player may discard a card from their hand. If they do, that player searches their deck for a basic Energy card, reveals it, and puts it into their hand. Then, that player shuffles their deck.

This card acts as a shared resource engine. It allows players to trade a card from their hand for the crucial resource of energy, which is needed to attack.

Which deck it belongs in

It suits decks that struggle to attach energy quickly or need consistent access to basic energy types like Grass or Fire.

Strengths
  • Consistent energy search
  • Shared benefit
  • Stadium control
Watch out for
  • Gives energy to opponent
  • Requires discarding a card
  • Only works once per turn
Pro tip

Use this when your hand is full or contains cards you do not need, to ensure you always have enough energy to attack.

Good to know

Viridian Forest is a famous location in the Kanto region where trainers often catch their first grass type Pokemon.

Note for the parent

Explain to your child that this card helps both them and their opponent, so they must weigh the benefit of getting energy against giving it away.
