Strange Cave

Rotated Out

A Stadium card that helps you place fossil Pokémon onto your bench.

StadiumBeginner to play

What this card does

This card stays in play until another Stadium card is played.

Once each turn, it lets you move a specific fossil Pokémon from your hand to your bench.

The new Pokémon counts as a Basic Pokémon for the purpose of playing it.

What it does

Strange Cave

This card stays in play when you play it. Discard this card if another Stadium card comes into play. If another card with the same name is in play, you can't play this card. Once during each player's turn, that player may put an Omanyte, Kabuto, Aerodactyl, Aerodactyl ex, Lileep, or Anorith onto his or her Bench from his or her hand. Treat the new Benched Pokémon as Basic Pokémon.

The key feature is that it treats Omanyte, Kabuto, Aerodactyl, Aerodactyl ex, Lileep, or Anorith as Basic Pokémon. This matters because it allows you to play these fossil cards immediately without needing a previous stage.

Which deck it belongs in

This card suits decks built around the Fossil mechanic. It is useful for players who want to get powerful fossils into play quickly.

Strengths
  • Fast setup
  • Fossil support
  • Basic treatment
Watch out for
  • Discarded by other Stadiums
  • Specific Pokémon only
  • One use per turn
Pro tip

Play this early to get a fossil onto the bench before your opponent can disrupt it with another Stadium card.

Good to know

Fossil Pokémon like Omanyte and Kabuto are revived from ancient shells found in rocks.

Note for the parent

Check if your child plays in a format that allows multiple Stadium cards, as this one will be discarded if another Stadium appears.
