A stadium card that punishes retreating Pokemon with extra damage.

What this card does

The card stays face up in play and affects the whole match.

If an Active Pokemon moves to the Bench during its controller's turn, it gets 2 damage counters.

What it does

Spikemuth

Whenever a player's Active Pokémon moves to the Bench during their turn, put 2 damage counters on that Pokémon.

This card makes it risky for a player to switch their main fighting Pokemon out of harm's way. Moving that Pokemon to the Bench is no longer a safe free move because it takes significant hit points as a penalty.

Which deck it belongs in

It suits decks that want to force the opponent into making difficult choices about when to retreat. It works well in strategies where you can avoid moving your own Active Pokemon while forcing the other player to do so.

Strengths
  • Discourages easy retreats
  • Adds pressure to opponents
  • Controls the pace of play
Watch out for
  • Punishes your own Pokemon too
  • Requires careful timing
  • Can backfire if you move first
Pro tip

Only use this card if you are confident you can keep your Active Pokemon in play longer than your opponent can force a switch.

Good to know

Spikemuth is a city known for its strong-willed trainers and unique fashion sense.

Note for the parent

Remind your child that they need to think carefully before switching their Active Pokemon out, as this card makes retreating much more dangerous than usual.
