What this card does

If Roserade is damaged by an attack and Knocked Out, it poisons the attacker.

Prevents the defending Pokémon from retreating during your opponent's next turn.

Signature ability

Poison Point

If this Pokémon is in the Active Spot and is damaged by an attack from your opponent's Pokémon (even if this Pokémon is Knocked Out), the Attacking Pokémon is now Poisoned.

Poison Point makes sure attackers get hurt when they hit you, while Bind Down stops them from running away too easily. Both are valuable in keeping pressure on your opponent.

Attacks

CC
Bind Down70

During your opponent's next turn, the Defending Pokémon can't retreat.

Abilities

AbilityPoison Point

Which deck it belongs in

Works well in control decks where you want to keep the game going and apply continuous pressure with poison effects.

Strengths
  • Poisons attackers
  • Prevents retreat
Watch out for
  • Weak against Fire types
  • Only Stage 1, so limited in versatility
Pro tip

Use Roserade's ability to set up poison conditions and then follow up with attacks that exploit those conditions.

From the Pokédex

Roserade uses its thorny leaves to inject a powerful toxin into any creature that dares to attack it.

Note for the parent

Roserade is a great addition for decks that rely on poisoning opponents or stopping their Pokémon from retreating easily.
