What this card does

Trample flips a coin for every Pokémon on the bench to deal 30 damage if it lands heads.

Rend deals 40 base damage plus an extra 20 if the opponent's active Pokémon already has damage counters.

Signature attack

Rend

If the Defending Pokémon has any damage counters on it, this attack does 40 damage plus 20 more damage. (40+ damage)

The Trample attack creates chaos by targeting all Benched Pokémon simultaneously. This matters because it can weaken multiple threats at once without needing to switch your own Pokémon out of harm's way.

Attacks

FC
Trample

Flip a coin for each Benched Pokémon (both yours and your opponent's). If that coin flip is heads, this attack does 30 damage to that Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.)

FCC
Rend40+

If the Defending Pokémon has any damage counters on it, this attack does 40 damage plus 20 more damage.

Which deck it belongs in

This card suits aggressive decks that aim to overwhelm the opponent quickly. It works well in strategies that place damage counters on the field early to maximise Rend.

Strengths
  • High burst damage
  • Bench sweep capability
  • Teamwork with damage counters
Watch out for
  • Weak to Grass types
  • Relies on coin flips
  • Vulnerable when Benched
Pro tip

Use Rend only after your opponent has already dealt some damage to their own active Pokémon.

From the Pokédex

Rampardos is known for its massive skull and powerful headbutts which it uses to hunt prey.

Note for the parent

The Trample attack can hit both sides so remind your child to check their own Benched Pokémon before using it.
