What this card does

Thunderous Rain GX deals 100 damage to every one of your opponent's Pokémon that has Energy attached.

This attack ignores Weakness and Resistance for Pokémon in play.

Thunder deals 150 damage but risks hurting Raikou itself if you flip tails.

Signature attack

Thunder

Flip a coin. If tails, this Pokémon does 50 damage to itself. (150 damage)

The Thunderous Rain GX attack is the main reason to include this card. It clears the board by damaging all opposing Pokémon with Energy attached, making it very effective against decks that rely on powering up multiple creatures.

This attack does 100 damage to each of your opponent’s Pokémon that has any Energy attached to it. (Don’t apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.) (You can’t use more than 1 GX attack in a game.)

Which deck it belongs in

This card suits aggressive Lightning type decks that want to control the game early. It works well in promo packs or special collections rather than standard competitive play.

Pro tip

Save the GX attack for when your opponent has several Pokémon with Energy attached to get the most value.

From the Pokédex

Raikou is said to embody the speed of lightning and is one of the legendary beasts from Johto.

Note for the parent

The GX attack can only be used once per game so your child will need a plan for when to unleash it.
