What this card does
Pidgeot ex rarely attacks. It is the most popular engine card in the game, meaning it is the reliable helper that makes the rest of the deck work. It evolves from Pidgey then Pidgeotto.
Once it is in play it removes almost all of a deck's bad luck, because the player can find whatever card the situation calls for. It slots into many different decks for exactly that reason.
Quick Search
Once during your turn, you may search your deck for a card and put it into your hand. Then, shuffle your deck. You can't use more than 1 Quick Search Ability each turn.
Once a turn, the player searches their deck for any one card and puts it into their hand. That is it, and that is why it is so strong. Need an Energy, a healing card, or the right attacker? Pidgeot finds it. It turns a deck of 60 random cards into a deck that does what you want.

Which deck it belongs in
A flexible engine seen in many decks. It is the classic partner for Charizard ex, where finding the right card every turn keeps the attacker firing.

Because it goes in so many decks, it has long held its value. Note that the Obsidian Flames printing has rotated out of Standard, so check before buying it for tournament play.
