Old Rod
Rotated OutA risky way to dig through your discard pile.
What this card does
Flip two coins to decide what you find.
Heads on both lets you get a Basic or Evolution Pokemon.
Tails on both lets you get another Trainer card.
Old Rod
Flip 2 coins. If both are heads, search your discard pile for a Basic Pokémon or Evolution card, show it to your opponent, and put it into your hand. If both are tails, search your discard pile for a Trainer card, show it to your opponent, and put it into your hand.
This card acts like a gamble for resources you have already used. You might recover a key Pokemon or another useful item, but you could also end up with nothing if the coins do not cooperate.
Which deck it belongs in
It suits decks that rely on discarding cards to build their strategy. It works best when you have many items in your discard pile to choose from.
- •Recovers discarded Pokemon
- •Retrieves Trainer cards
- •Uncommon rarity
- •Requires two heads or tails
- •Low success rate
- •Depends on discard pile content
Check your discard pile before playing to ensure there are valid cards to search for.
Old Rod is a classic fishing tool that has helped many trainers catch their first Water type Pokemon.
Explain that flipping two coins is like rolling a double six, which happens only one in four times.
