TrainerBeginner to play

What this card does

Attach it to one of your basic or Stage 1 Pokemon that has no other tools.

It stops all attack effects and damage from any opponent's Pokemon-ex.

The card is discarded after the opponent's next turn.

What it does

Mysterious Shard

Attach Mysterious Shard to 1 of your Pokémon (excluding Pokémon-ex) that doesn't already have a Pokémon Tool attached to it. If the Pokémon Mysterious Shard is attached to is a Pokémon-ex, discard this card. Prevent all effects of attacks, including damage, done to the Pokémon that Mysterious Shard is attached to by your opponent's Pokémon-ex. Discard this card at the end of your opponent's next turn.

This tool acts as a protective barrier. It specifically blocks the special abilities and hits of your opponent's strongest cards, keeping your chosen Pokemon safe for one round.

Which deck it belongs in

It suits decks that need to protect key support Pokemon from being taken out by heavy hitters. Use it when you expect the opponent to play a powerful Pokemon-ex.

Strengths
  • Blocks all damage
  • Ignores special effects
  • Protects key units
Watch out for
  • Cannot protect ex Pokemon
  • Lasts only one turn
  • Must attach to empty slot
Pro tip

Save this card for when your opponent plays their most dangerous Pokemon-ex to ensure your main defender survives.

Good to know

Mysterious Shards are rare fragments found in the Crystal Guardians set that hold unique energy properties.

Note for the parent

Make sure you attach it to a Pokemon that is not an 'ex' variant, as attaching it to one would cause the card to be discarded immediately.
