Mysterious Fossil

Rotated Out

A versatile Trainer card that acts as a temporary Colorless Pokémon to fill deck slots.

ItemBeginner to play

What this card does

You play it onto the bench as if it were a Basic Pokémon.

It counts as a Colorless type for energy requirements.

It cannot be affected by Special Conditions like Poison or Paralysis.

What it does

Mysterious Fossil

Play Mysterious Fossil as if it were a Basic Pokémon. While in play, Mysterious Fossil counts as a Colorless Pokémon (as well as a Trainer card). Mysterious Fossil has no attacks of its own, can't retreat, and can't be affected by any Special Conditions. If Mysterious Fossil is Knocked Out, it doesn't count as a Knocked Out Pokémon. (Discard it anyway.) At any time during your turn before your attack, you may discard Mysterious Fossil from play.

This card allows you to treat a Trainer card as a Pokémon on the bench. This is useful for filling empty slots in your deck without using a real Pokemon space, while remaining immune to status effects.

Which deck it belongs in

It suits decks that need to meet specific energy requirements or fill out the bench count. It works well in strategies where you want to keep your actual Pokémon safe from conditions.

Strengths
  • Immune to Special Conditions
  • Counts as Colorless type
  • Flexible discard timing
Watch out for
  • Cannot attack
  • Cannot retreat
  • Does not count as a Knocked Out Pokémon if defeated
Pro tip

Use it to meet energy costs for other cards, then discard it when you no longer need that Colorless requirement.

Good to know

Fossils are preserved remains of ancient organisms that help scientists understand past life.

Note for the parent

Your child can discard this card at any time during their turn, so it is a flexible tool rather than a permanent fixture.
