What this card does

This card stays in play until another Stadium card is played.

When a player puts a Basic Pokemon onto their Bench, two damage counters are placed on it.

This effect applies to all players, not just the owner of the card.

What it does

Miasma Valley

This card stays in play when you play it. Discard this card if another Stadium card comes into play. If another card with the same name is in play, you can't play this card. Whenever any player puts a Basic Pokémon (excluding Grass or Psychic Pokémon) from his or her hand onto his or her Bench, put 2 damage counters on that Pokémon.

Miasma Valley forces a heavy cost for bringing new Basic Pokemon into battle. Any Basic Pokemon that is not Grass or Psychic type starts with two damage counters when it enters play.

Which deck it belongs in

This card suits decks that rely on non-Grass and non-Psychic Basic Pokemon. It creates a difficult choice for opponents who need to switch in their main attackers.

Strengths
  • Weakens new threats
  • Affects all players
  • Stays until replaced
Watch out for
  • Ignored by Grass types
  • Ignored by Psychic types
  • Replaced easily
Pro tip

Use this card to punish opponents who rely on basic Pokemon like Charizard or Pikachu.

Good to know

Miasma Valley is a fictional location known for its toxic atmosphere.

Note for the parent

Remind your child that this card affects both players, so they must also be careful when benching their own vulnerable Pokemon.
