Mega Greninja ex
A high-ceiling sniper from the new Mega Evolution era.
What this card does
Mega Greninja ex is one of the powerful new Mega Evolution Pokémon. It is a Stage 2 with a large 350 HP, and it is among the most talked-about emerging cards in the format.
It does damage two ways at once: a normal attack, plus the ability to pick off a chosen Pokémon. That dual threat makes it dangerous, but the higher Prize cost (see the note below) means mistakes are punished hard.
Mortal Shuriken
Once during your turn, if this Pokémon is in the Active Spot, you may discard a Basic Water Energy card from your hand in order to use this Ability. Place 6 damage counters on 1 of your opponent's Pokémon.
While Greninja is active, the player can discard a Basic Water Energy from hand to place six damage counters (60 damage) on any one of the opponent's Pokémon. Used each turn, it snipes down a key Pokémon on the Bench before it ever gets going.
Attacks
You may put a Water Energy attached to this Pokémon into your hand and have this attack do 80 more damage.

Which deck it belongs in
The build-around card of the Mega Greninja ex deck, an aggressive sniping plan that has risen quickly since the Mega Evolution sets arrived.
- •Snipes any Benched Pokémon for 60 each turn
- •Large 350 HP
- •Threatens damage two different ways at once
- •Strong, flexible main attack
- •Weak to Lightning attackers
- •Gives up three Prizes when knocked out
- •Discards Energy to snipe, so it needs a steady supply
- •A Stage 2 Mega, so set-up is demanding
Pairs well with
Powers its attack quickly, a key reason the deck functions.
Use Mortal Shuriken to remove the support Pokémon your opponent relies on, not only their biggest attacker.
Top players who use this deck
An emerging deck since the Chaos Rising set arrived in May 2026. It has won City League events in Japan and performs strongly on the Pokémon TCG Live ladder, but is still proving itself at major regionals.
Greninja is the Ninja Pokémon and hurls compressed-water shuriken. Mortal Shuriken on the card is that move, picking off targets from a distance.
Important rule to know: when a Mega Evolution Pokémon ex is knocked out, the opponent takes three Prize cards, not two. That makes it high-risk. It is also a newer card, so prices can be higher while demand is fresh.
