What this card does

Its Shadowy Concealment ability makes the opponent take one fewer Prize card when a Pokémon ex knocks out one of your Darkness Pokémon.

Attacks for 230 with Void Gale, then moves an Energy from itself to a Benched Pokémon.

Signature ability

Shadowy Concealment

If 1 of your Darkness Pokémon is Knocked Out by damage from an attack from your opponent's Pokémon ex, that player takes 1 fewer Prize card. The effect of Shadowy Concealment doesn't stack.

Shadowy Concealment is an ability that triggers when an opponent's Pokémon ex knocks out one of your Darkness Pokémon. That player takes one fewer Prize card than they normally would. It does not stack, so the most it saves is a single Prize at a time.

Which deck it belongs in

This card is the centre of its own Darkness deck built around it, using the ability to make every trade in your favour while Void Gale keeps your Energy moving.

Strengths
  • Shadowy Concealment slows down how fast the opponent can win.
  • Void Gale hits hard at 230 and keeps your Energy on the board.
  • High 350 HP makes it tough to knock out.
Watch out for
  • A Mega Evolution Pokémon gives up three Prize cards when it is knocked out, so losing it hands the opponent a big lead.
  • Shadowy Concealment only helps against opponents using Pokémon ex, not other attackers.
  • As a Stage 2, it needs Gastly and Haunter in play first, so it is slower to set up.

Pairs well with

🃏
Other Darkness Pokémon

Shadowy Concealment protects all of your Dark Pokémon, so a full Dark team gets the most from it.

Rare Candy
Rare Candy

Lets you evolve from Gastly straight to the Mega, skipping the Haunter step.

Pro tip

Keep your bench full of Darkness Pokémon so Shadowy Concealment is working on every trade, and use Void Gale to feed Energy onto your next attacker.

From the Pokédex

Gengar is said to hide in shadows, and a sudden chill on a warm day is taken as a sign that one is near.

Note for the parent

The clever part of this card is defensive. It does not stop your Pokémon being knocked out, but it makes each loss cost the opponent fewer Prizes, which keeps your child in the game longer.
