Larry's Staraptor
A high risk, high reward fighter that turns status problems into powerful attacks.
What this card does
It has 150 HP and costs only Colorless energy to attack.
The Facade attack deals 60 damage plus an extra 100 if the Pokemon is burned or poisoned.
The Feathery Strike deals 150 damage but requires discarding two energy cards from itself.
Feathery Strike
Discard 2 Energy from this Pokémon, and this attack also does 50 damage to 1 of your opponent's Benched Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.) (150 damage)
This card thrives on being in a bad state. If it is burned or poisoned, its Facade attack becomes very strong because of the extra damage bonus. This turns a usual weakness into a strategic advantage.
Attacks
If this Pokémon is Burned or Poisoned, this attack does 100 more damage.
Discard 2 Energy from this Pokémon, and this attack also does 50 damage to 1 of your opponent's Benched Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.)
Which deck it belongs in
It fits well in decks that intentionally give their own Pokemon status conditions to trigger the damage boost. It also suits aggressive strategies that want to hit the opponent's bench with Feathery Strike.
- •High damage output
- •Bench targeting ability
- •Low energy cost
- •Vulnerable to lightning attacks
- •Requires discarding energy for big hits
Use Facade when the card is already damaged by status to maximise the 160 total damage.
Staraptor is known for its fierce loyalty and will fiercely protect its flock from any threat.
Explain to your child that giving this Pokemon a burn or poison is actually helpful for its strongest move.
