Iron Thorns ex
Protects against Abilities and moves Energy to a Bench.
What this card does
Prevents Abilities from Rule Box Pokémon when in the Active Spot.
Transfers Energy to a Benched Pokémon for potential future attacks.
Initialization
As long as this Pokémon is in the Active Spot, Pokémon with a Rule Box in play (both yours and your opponent's) have no Abilities, except for Future Pokémon. (Pokémon ex, Pokémon V, etc. have Rule Boxes.)
Iron Thorns ex acts as a defensive powerhouse, limiting your opponent's ability to use their special moves and ensuring you can keep your Bench active.
Attacks
Move an Energy from this Pokémon to 1 of your Benched Pokémon.
Abilities
As long as this Pokémon is in the Active Spot, Pokémon with a Rule Box in play (both yours and your opponent's) have no Abilities, except for Future Pokémon. (Pokémon ex, Pokémon V, etc. have Rule Boxes.)
Which deck it belongs in
Works well in decks that rely on keeping a strong Active Pokémon or need to manage Energy efficiently.
- •Defends against Abilities
- •Moves Energy to Benched Pokémon
- •Limited by needing to be in the Active Spot
- •Weakness to Fighting-type attacks
Use Iron Thorns ex early in your turn to set up for future attacks and protect your Active Pokémon.
Iron Thorns ex's thorny exterior is a natural adaptation, providing both defense and an energy transfer mechanism.
This card is great for protecting against opponent's strategies while setting up your own bench.
