What this card does

Discard up to two Pokemon from your hand that do not have a Rule Box.

Draw three cards for each Pokemon you discarded in this way.

What it does

Gwynn

Discard up to 2 Pokémon that don't have a Rule Box from your hand, and draw 3 cards for each card you discarded in this way. (Pokémon ex, Pokémon V, etc. have Rule Boxes.)

This card allows a player to trade their current hand of ordinary Pokemon for a large number of new cards. It matters because it helps players find the specific cards they need to win, even if they have to give up some of their other options.

Which deck it belongs in

It suits decks that rely on drawing many cards quickly to set up powerful attacks. It works best when the deck has enough ordinary Pokemon to discard without losing critical pieces.

Strengths
  • •Card advantage
  • •Hand refill
  • •Fast setup
Watch out for
  • •Loss of resources
  • •Deck dependency
  • •Predictable play
Pro tip

Use this card when you have multiple ordinary Pokemon in hand and need to find a specific supporter or energy.

Good to know

Trainer cards like Gwynn represent people who help trainers, rather than the Pokemon themselves.

Note for the parent

Your child might use this card to get back to a full hand after playing several cards in one turn.
