Gastrodon East Sea
Rotated OutA sturdy water-type that helps you rebuild your bench quickly after a retreat.
What this card does
The Sticky Hold ability lets you move energy cards from Gastrodon to another Pokémon when it moves to the Bench.
The Calling Wave attack searches your deck for two more Gastrodon but puts damage counters on them.
The Wave Splash attack deals 40 damage.
Sticky Hold
If Gastrodon East Sea is switched or retreats to your Bench, move as many Energy cards attached to Gastrodon East Sea as you like to the new Active Pokémon.
The key feature is Sticky Hold. It allows you to transfer energy from a retreating Pokémon to a new active one without losing that resource. This makes it useful for keeping your attackers powered up during strategy shifts.
Attacks
Search your deck for up to 2 Gastrodon and put them onto your Bench as Basic Pokémon. Put 2 damage counters on each of them. Shuffle your deck afterward.
Abilities
If Gastrodon East Sea is switched or retreats to your Bench, move as many Energy cards attached to Gastrodon East Sea as you like to the new Active Pokémon.
Which deck it belongs in
This card suits decks that rely on switching Pokémon frequently or need to recover energy quickly. It works well in water-themed strategies where consistency is important.
- •Energy retention
- •Bench support
- •Deck search
- •Weak to grass attacks
- •Retreated Pokémon take damage
- •Requires water energy for attacks
Use Sticky Hold when retreating a damaged Gastrodon to save its energy for your main attacker.
Gastrodon absorbs minerals from the sea floor and stores them in its body.
Explain that moving energy saves time because you do not have to play new energy cards next turn.
