Energy Root

Rotated Out

A tool card that boosts health but stops special abilities.

TrainerBeginner to play

What this card does

Attach it to a basic Pokémon that has no other tools on it.

The chosen Pokémon gains 20 extra hit points.

That Pokémon cannot use any Poké-Powers or Poké-Bodies while the tool is attached.

What it does

Energy Root

Attach Energy Root to 1 of your Pokémon (excluding Pokémon-ex and Pokémon that has Dark or an owner in its name) that doesn't already have a Pokémon Tool attached to it. If the Pokémon Energy Root is attached to is Pokémon-ex or has Dark or an owner in its name, discard Energy Root. As long as Energy Root is attached to a Pokémon, that Pokémon gets +20 HP and can't use any Poké-Powers or Poké-Bodies.

Energy Root acts like a protective shell for your Pokemon. It makes them tougher by adding health but locks away their special powers so they cannot activate them during play.

Which deck it belongs in

This card suits decks that rely on steady damage and durability rather than complex abilities. It works well with simple Pokemon that need more hit points to survive longer in battle.

Strengths
  • Adds 20 HP
  • Simple effect
  • Uncommon rarity
Watch out for
  • Blocks abilities
  • Cannot be used on Pokemon-ex
  • Requires empty tool slot
Pro tip

Use this card early in the game to give your main attacker more survivability before it starts taking damage.

Good to know

In the games Energy Root is a healing item that cures status conditions like paralysis or poison.

Note for the parent

Check the card carefully before attaching it because you cannot use it on Pokemon-ex or those with Dark or an owner in their name.
