What this card does

The first attack damages both opponent Pokemon and may paralyse them.

The second attack deals 30 damage plus extra damage based on unused energy.

Signature attack

Ink Blast

Does 30 damage plus 10 more damage for each Energy attached to Dark Octillery but not used to pay for this attack's Energy cost. You can't add more than 20 damage in this way. (30+ damage)

Dark Octillery uses its Ink Blast to deal significant damage by counting the energy attached to it. This allows you to build up power for a strong hit in later turns.

Attacks

W
Black Suction Cups

Does 10 damage to each Defending Pokémon. Flip a coin. If heads, each Defending Pokémon is now Paralyzed.

CC
Ink Blast30+

Does 30 damage plus 10 more damage for each Energy attached to Dark Octillery but not used to pay for this attack's Energy cost. You can't add more than 20 damage in this way.

Which deck it belongs in

It suits decks that focus on attaching multiple energy cards quickly. It works well in strategies that aim for big damage moves rather than small quick ones.

Strengths
  • Area damage
  • Paralysis effect
  • Scaling power
Watch out for
  • Low health points
  • Lightning weakness
Pro tip

Attach extra energy cards to your Dark Octillery to maximise the bonus damage on Ink Blast.

From the Pokédex

Octillery shoots ink from its mouth to confuse prey and escape danger.

Note for the parent

Explain that the extra damage only comes from energy not used to pay for the attack cost.
