Dark Ampharos
Rotated OutDark Ampharos punishes opponents for evolving their Pokemon by adding damage counters to them.
What this card does
It has an ability called Darkest Impulse that places two damage counters on any opponent's Pokemon when they evolve it.
It can attack with Shock Bolt for 70 damage but requires you to discard all Lightning Energy attached to it.
Darkest Impulse
As long as Dark Ampharos is in play, whenever your opponent plays an Evolution card from his or her hand to evolve 1 of his or her Pokémon, put 2 damage counters on that Pokémon. You can't use more than 1 Darkest Impulse Poké-Body each turn.
The key feature is the Darkest Impulse ability which disrupts your child's opponent by making their evolving Pokemon weaker. This forces the other player to think twice before bringing in stronger evolved Pokemon.
Attacks
Discard all Lightning Energy attached to Dark Ampharos.

Which deck it belongs in
This card suits decks that want to slow down the opponent's strategy rather than just attacking quickly. It works well if your child enjoys controlling the pace of the game.
- •Disrupts evolution
- •High damage attack
- •Stage 2 power
- •Limited ability use
- •Discards energy
- •Fighting weakness
Use Shock Bolt when the opponent has just evolved to maximise the pressure on them.
Ampharos is known for its bright horn that can illuminate dark areas and guide lost travellers.
Watch for the rule that limits using Darkest Impulse to once per turn so you know when the disruption stops.
