Spiky Shield
If this Pokémon is your Active Pokémon and is damaged by an opponent’s attack (even if this Pokémon is Knocked Out), put 3 damage counters on the Attacking Pokémon.
The Spiky Shield ability acts as a deterrent by punishing attackers. Every time an opponent hits your active Sandslash, they take three extra damage counters which helps wear them down quickly.
Attacks
This attack does 100 damage to each of your opponent’s Pokémon that has any damage counters on it. (Don’t apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.) (You can’t use more than 1 GX attack in a game.)
Abilities

Which deck it belongs in
This card suits decks focused on protection and counter-attacks. It works well in strategies that want to discourage the opponent from attacking directly.
- •High damage output
- •Strong defensive deterrent
- •Clears multiple targets
- •Weak to Metal types
- •One GX limit restricts options
- •Requires specific energy costs
Use the Spiky Shield ability to force the opponent to take damage before they can knock out your Sandslash.
Alolan Sandslash has quills made of ice that it can shoot at foes.
Remind your child that they can only use one GX attack per game, so they must choose carefully between Frost Breath and Spiky Storm.
