Darkness160 HPStage 1Intermediate to play

What this card does

Alolan Muk ex has 160 HP and evolves from Alolan Grimer.

It uses the attack Chemical Panic to randomly apply a status condition like Asleep or Burned to the opponent's Active Pokémon.

The attack costs two Darkness Energy and one Colorless Energy for 80 damage.

Signature attack

Chemical Panic

1 Special Condition from among Asleep, Burned, Confused, Paralyzed, and Poisoned is chosen at random, and your opponent's Active Pokémon is now affected by that Special Condition. Any Special Conditions already affecting that Pokémon will not be chosen. (80 damage)

The key feature of this card is its ability to inflict unpredictable trouble on your opponent. By choosing randomly from conditions such as Asleep, Burned, Confused, Paralyzed or Poisoned it makes it difficult for the other player to plan their next move effectively.

Which deck it belongs in

This card fits well in a deck built around Darkness Energy cards. It works best when you can protect it because losing an ex Pokémon gives your opponent two Prize cards.

Strengths
  • High damage output
  • Disruptive status effects
  • Solid HP for a Stage 1
Watch out for
  • Vulnerable to Fighting type attacks
  • Gives two Prize cards if knocked out
  • Random effect can be unpredictable
Pro tip

Use this card when the opponent's Active Pokémon has no existing status conditions to maximise the chance of causing trouble.

From the Pokédex

Alolan Muk is known for its aggressive nature and ability to dissolve almost anything it touches with its corrosive slime.

Note for the parent

Explain to your child that the random effect adds excitement but also means they cannot always control the outcome of the attack.
